National Geography Games

National geography games is a very enjoyable way to learn about the land we live in. When you participate in any type of geography puzzles or game you are challenging your knowledge against others or yourself. If it is someplace you do not know then you increase your knowledge of the world around you.

Do you know your state capitals, do you know where the beginning of the Oregon Trail is or where it ended, or do you know what state has the highest elevation? There are any number of geography puzzles and games available to test or learn all of these facts, plus more. Some games available may include jigsaw puzzles with pictures of the nation that have to be pieced together placing locations in their proper area.

Another game, one can play would be to place a location in the proper state. A more fun game for younger folks would be to put a large map of the nation on the wall, then give each student a card with the name of a place on it, then they put it on the map on the wall. There are many geography games on the internet for all age groups and grade levels. These games also can be set up for different difficulty levels.

You can learn the geography of the nation by playing a game of cards. All you have to do is to match your cards with countries and sees that border the name on your card. A wildcard in this game will keep the playing field more even. For sports enthusiasts, a geography game may be to make a map that has national teams of various sports that have to be matched to their hometown. Or simply go online and test your geography IQ with a geography quiz. This is a good way to find the areas you need to study and to learn more as well.

Not only will you learn where locations are by playing geography games, you can become knowledgeable in interesting facts and little known geography trivia about the places you find. Such as the fact that the great lakes constitute the largest group of lakes containing fresh water on the earth, or another fact that the Great Plains encompass 25% of North America.

The names of some games available to learn geography are an animated atlas, clue finder, test your geography knowledge, geography hangman and a geonet game. Available online are interactive maps, geography IQ puzzles, which is a map of the world containing information and a currency converter. The well known National Geographic Society has a wealth of information for geography, they include many games about geography and have a National Geography Bee every year.

Geography games will enhance an office, study, or classroom, and add color and inspire people young and old alike to learn about neighbors near and far. So use geography puzzles and games to learn more about the world around you in a fun, interactive way.
