Geography for Kids

Geography for kids can be fun. When it comes to geography, it is more than just looking at maps, it's a way to connect and learn how people of other countries live, what their land is like, what their climate might be like, or wet bodies of water surrounding them and geography puzzles can help learn all of this.

Does your child know what the capital of the state that you live in is? Do they know the name of our nations' capital, and do they know where other countries are? An essential part of learning for children is to gain a working knowledge of where our states and capitals are, the geography of our country and where our country lies in relationship to the other countries of the world. One of the best ways for a child to learn geography is with the aid of geography puzzles, tools and toys. A map of the world showing its geography in the shape of a globe that represents the earth is a great way to get the child interested in learning about geography. A 3-D version is even better.

Geography for kids can be made into many unique ways to learn. You may find interactive geographical maps on the internet to work with. Younger children learn faster and memorize easier with hands on tasks such as geography jigsaw puzzles. Or possibly you could look for some type of magnetic map that may identify countries as a big picture and provide little magnets with names of places that can be easily placed on the map. Another idea would be to find the highest mountain on the earth. Cards can be made with original climbing routes with real names of places to go. By avoiding hazards, and working out challenges that are geared towards the culture of the area, one can climb the mountain by working through the names of places through the route and avoiding situations that tend to arise via a geography game. Music is known to be an easy way for children to learn. When combined with geography the child's memory is being expanded. Children can even make up their own song to help learning names of geography places.

Atmosphere, earth's structure, biosphere, hydrosphere, BGC cycles, and climates are all very big and complicated words for kids. By studying the physical geography of the earth's land and seas they will learn what these are about. These may be okay at the high school level, however, if learning geography is not fun, the child will not go far. To teach the child, geography of our earths make up it has to be receptive at their level of understanding and including geography games, trivia, and geography puzzles can help.

Geography for kids has a wide range of valuable geography puzzles, tools and toys available from many toy stores, and certainly either on the internet to play online or in the classroom and all is a fun way for kids to learn geography

The geography of U.S. manufacturing

Since 2010, manufacturing jobs have made a very modest comeback in the United States — although not nearly enough to reverse a long, three-decade slide. (Between 1979 and 2010, the U.S. economy lost 7.9 million manufacturing jobs; since then, it’s gained just 350,000.) Read full article >>
